- The Preliminary exam is used only for screening; marks are not counted in final merit.
- Question standard is of LL.B. graduation level.

Mains is divided into Compulsory Papers and Optional Papers.

Interview / Viva-Voce
- Candidates who clear the Mains with required qualifying marks will be called for the Personality Test / Interview.
- Purpose: assess general awareness, legal mind, temperament, expression, clarity of thought.
- Marks for Viva-Voce are added to Mains for final merit ranking.
